Aerial Survey

Powerline Modelling

Purpose: In this advanced age, one cannot assume a situation where there is a power disruption and because of which the future happens to be in dark. We would be more than happy to assist with the necessary power line inspection and modelling with the aid of Aerial LiDAR survey and imaging. Traditional methods has been taking a lot of time in surveying or mapping up the power line and was a huge scope as it involved a continuous and rigorous manual inspection involving human labor and its respective cost.

With Aerial LiDAR mapping, the High Voltage OH Transmission line and the conductors can be surveyed and 3D model can be generated which can be used in the analysis of the conditions to ensure the full performance of the transmission system

  • GMS with its advanced aerial inspection systems can check upon the asset in place and assess for any damages by recording the data and through its processing system, same can be looked into in detail and necessary corrections can be planned.
  • Aerial survey covering the power lines can take into account the vegetation density which might get into the direction of the power lines in cases of thick vegetations such as forests.
  • Tree counts in the path of the power lines is another added detail that can be derived from the capturing of images as point cloud by aerial survey and then converting the cloud data into a virtual real image by the processing software thus giving an image of an eye-view.
  • Infrared and ultraviolet imagery of the power transmission lines can be obtained by means of thermal imaging by aerial survey. It can thus be used to find fault transmissions or power wastages happening.
  • Aerial survey also helps in finding out the condition in detail in close ups of the conductors, insulators, stay arms which can in long periods get affected by the environmental changes.
  • Sagging of lines is of great concern in long and extended power lines covering up huge distance and aerial survey is the best solution to identify the same to its nearest detail and tentatively project the interference with the nearest vegetation if any.
